Bybit CEO Ben Zhou confirmed in a live stream on Friday that the crypto exchange had lost approximately 70% of its customers' Ethereum holdings in a $1.5 billion hack. The breach was first flagged by on-chain sleuth ZachXBT and saw over 400,000 Ether suspiciously leave Bybit’s cold wallet address. Security experts believe hackers tricked those controlling the keys to Bybit’s cold wallet.

Bybit Processes Withdrawal Requests, Receives Loan from Bitget Following Hack
Bybit has processed 99.99% of withdrawal requests following a hack, with only 2100 remaining. CEO Ben Zhou asked customers with completed requests to comment below his post. The team has been working overnight to process withdrawals and answer customer questions. Additionally, Bitget has transferred 40,000 ETH, valued at $106 million, to Bybit as a loan to cover customer withdrawals. According to analysis firm Elliptic, the hack is believed to be the work of the North Korean group Lazarus.
